
BEIJING, February 6 The Russian team climbed to third place in the team medal standings Winter Olympic Games in Beijing. On Sunday, the first gold medal for the Russian Olympic team was won by skier Alexander Bolshunov, who won the skiathlon. His teammate Denis Spitsov won the silver medal. The freestyler Anastasia Smirnova won the bronze medal in the mogul competition. The Russian team now has five medals in total: one gold, two silver and two bronze. Norway leads in the medal standings (two gold, one bronze), followed by the Swedes (two gold).
