
BEIJING Feb 8 American figure skater Nathan Chen set a new world record in the short program at the Beijing Olympics. For his rental, the 22-year-old American received 113.97 points. The previous best achievement belonged to the Japanese Yuzuru Hanyu (111.82) and was set at the 2020 Four Continents Tournament. Chen is an Olympic silver and bronze medalist (both times in the team), a three-time world champion and winner of the Grand Prix Final. The figure skaters will demonstrate the program on Thursday.
