Sugar price in Ukraine in February 2022 rapidly went up, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to RBC-Ukraine.
What is the price of sugar now
Currently, the average cost in stores per kilogram of the product is 26.27 UAH.
It is interesting that the price of a three-kilogram pack of sugar has decreased over the month. So, if last month supermarkets sold it for an average of UAH 81.80, by February the price dropped to UAH 77.90.
Sugar in Ukrainian supermarkets is sold at the following prices:
Auchan – UAH 27.20;
Novus – UAH 25.39;
Metro – UAH 25.30;
Varus – UAH 27.20
Sugar — price increase record
Sugar became one of the record-breaking price increase products in 2021. According to the data of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, for the year the cost soared by 61.5%. Along with sugar, prices for sunflower oil (by 57.7%), eggs (47%) and bread (15.8%) have risen significantly in the country.
Reduce sugar consumption
Note that the World Health Organization urges global action to reduce the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages and reduce their impact on human health.
According to WHO, no more than 25 grams of pure sucrose per day is required for a healthy life.
