A new criminal case against politician Alexei Navalny will be considered by the Lefortovsky District Court of Moscow on February 15 at an offsite hearing in IK-2 in Pokrov, Vladimir Region. This was reported to TASS by lawyer Olga Mikhailova.

“The court notified us that on February 15, the trial of Alexei Navalny would begin in IK-2 in Pokrov in an offsite hearing. We do not yet know the motives for such a decision, but it is very unusual. In my practice, this has never happened,” she said.
In a new case, Navalny is charged with fraud on an especially large scale (part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code). According to investigators, for the activities of organizations associated with the oppositionist, “more than 588 million rubles were collected from individuals as donations,” and the politician “spent more than 356 million rubles of this amount for personal purposes.”
In addition, Navalny is accused of insulting the magistrate Vera Akimova, who was in charge of the libel case against veteran Ignat Artemenko. In the libel case, the court fined the politician 850,000 rubles.
At the end of January, Rosfinmonitoring added Navalny and a number of his supporters to the list of terrorists and extremists. “Who can I be in this system? Only a terrorist. What is there to be surprised about? the politician commented.
