Retired judge Saydi Yangulbayeva's wife Zarema Musayeva told human rights activists who visited her in Grozny SIZO-1 that a judge in Grozny made a decision to arrest her while she was in a faint. Musayeva's words were quoted in the «Committee against Torture».
Killing, planting, scaring. The abduction of the judge's wife by Chechen security forces in Nizhny Novgorod is the main thing
On January 20, Chechen policemen took 52-year-old Musaeva with diabetes from Nizhny Novgorod under the pretext of interrogation, without taking insulin with them on the road. On the evening of January 21, the judge of the Leninsky District Court of Grozny, Akhmed Bashuev, arrested her for 15 days under the article on petty hooliganism (part 1 of article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).
There were no defenders of Musayeva in court. “When the judge asked her to introduce herself, [Zarema Musayeva] gave her first and last name and fainted. She woke up already in the detention center,” the woman described the meeting in a conversation with human rights activists.
The Chechen Ombudsman published a video with Musayeva that same evening. On it, the woman said that there was “no violence” on the part of the security forces against her, that they bought her medicines and “injected” her. Relatives called her condition in the frame «very bad».
On February 1, Musaeva was transferred from a special detention center to a pre-trial detention center as part of a criminal case on assault on a police officer (Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code). The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, claimed that the woman «attacked a police officer and almost took his eye.»
When Musayeva was in a special detention center in January, lawyers were not allowed to see her. They were shown a statement from Musaeva about refusing the services of human rights activists. She herself subsequently said that she “did not refuse, does not refuse and does not plan to refuse of her own free will” from their legal assistance. Today, after a complaint to the prosecutor's office, human rights activists entered into her criminal case.
«Tear off your heads, work on you, kill you.» The head of Chechnya and the deputy of the State Duma again threaten the family of a retired judge
Lawyer Natalya Dobronravova called Zarema Musaeva's health condition in the pre-trial detention center difficult, the woman is experiencing «severe weakness», it is «hard for her to walk.» At the same time, she had no complaints about the medical care provided. Musayeva denied the charges in both the administrative and criminal cases.
The remaining members of the Yangulbaev family left Russia, fearing for their lives. The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, repeatedly threatened them and accused them of terrorism. Chechen authorities link sons of retired judge Ibragim and Abubakar Yangulbaev with opposition telegram channel 1ADAT.
