The rector of Shaninka, Sergei Zuev, was transferred from the medical unit of the capital's SIZO-1 «Matrosskaya Tishina» to a common cell. The scientist's lawyer Dmitry Kravchenko told RIA Novosti about this.
The day before, on February 9, Zuev's lawyers filed a petition with the investigator for the admission of civilian doctors to the pre-trial detention center. “Zuev needs a comprehensive cardiological examination, which cannot be carried out in the conditions of the medical unit of the pre-trial detention center,” insisted the defense side.
On February 7, a member of the Public Monitoring Commission, Alexander Khurudzhi, said that Zuev became worse in the medical unit and he «cannot always get out of bed.» The city administration of the Federal Penitentiary Service denied this.

Zuev is accused of two episodes of particularly large-scale fraud while working in Shaninka and RANEPA. In October, he was placed under house arrest. A month later, the rector was transferred to a pre-trial detention center, despite serious heart problems and other diseases.
