Beijing, February 12, Anatoly Samokhvalov. Head of the press service of the Russian Olympic Committee (OKR) Konstantin Vybornov escorted Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva to the applause of Russian journalists through the mixed zone after training at the Beijing Olympics, a correspondent reports from the scene. On Friday, Valieva and her coach Eteri Tutberidze refused to speak to the press following the results of the day's training. After her, the 15-year-old figure skater, in accordance with the protocol, went from the ice to the locker room through the mixed zone, where there were about three dozen journalists from different countries. The figure skater covered her face with a hood, Russian journalists did not bother her with questions, but the correspondent of the British Daily Mail, Riat Al-Samarrai, asked Valieva if she had taken doping. The skater did not respond. The International Doping Testing Agency (ITA) on Friday reported that single skater Valieva's doping test dated December 25, 2021 tested positive for trimetazidine. The test result was handed over by the anti-doping laboratory in Stockholm on February 8. The Russian Anti-Doping Agency imposed a temporary suspension on Valiyeva — after the athlete's appeal on February 9, it was lifted. For now, she is allowed to continue competing in the Beijing Olympics. The IOC appealed the decision to lift the suspension of Valieva in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), the same was done by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). Valieva is the current champion of Russia and Europe.
