Beijing, Feb 11 The Russian team is eighth in the medal standings after seventh competition day at the Beijing Olympics. On Friday, skier Alexander Bolshunov brought silver to the national team's piggy bank following the results of a 15-kilometer race with a separate start in the classic style. In total, the Russians have 12 awards (two gold, four silver, six bronze). The German team leads the medal standings with six gold and four silver medals. The second place is occupied by the Norwegians (6-3-5), the third — by the Dutch (5-4-1). In terms of the total number of medals, the leadership is shared by the Norwegians and the Austrians — 14 each, the Russians — the third. The XXIV Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, which started on February 4, will last until February 24. Athletes will compete for 108 sets of awards in 15 disciplines of seven sports.
