The Troitsky District Court of Moscow has arrested eco-activist Konstantin Fokin for nine days, who opposed the cutting down of the Trinity Forest. He spoke about this on his Facebook page.
According to the administrative file on the court's website, the activist was placed under arrest under a protocol of disobedience to the police (Part 1 of Article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).
As noted by Fokin, he was detained on February 13 because of «an obstruction to the construction of equipment at the entrance to the forest.» On February 2, in the east of the Troitsky forest park, an eco-activist climbed onto an excavator and was pushed off the bucket handle by several guards in vests. Other guards picked him up on the ground, carried him by the arms and legs, and threw him into the snow. A few minutes later the situation repeated itself.
«You can't treat us like slaves». A report from the Trinity Forest, which was defended by hundreds of local residents
Deforestation for the construction of a school began on January 10 near Troitsk. The Moscow City Hall in press releases called it a «giant school» because of more than two thousand planned places for students. They plan to cut down 4.9 hectares of the 75 hectares of the forest park for construction, Kommersant noted. On January 31, clashes also broke out between residents and guards. Also on February 12, the police detained 14 people for protests against deforestation.
