More than half (54%) of Russians believe that the Russian healthcare system is inefficient, according to a survey by the Levada Center* (available from Novaya Gazeta).
Negative assessment of the healthcare system in practice has not changed over the past 10 years, sociologists note.
22% of respondents trust domestic medicine (9% trust completely, 13% — at least). Another 38% trust “to some extent”. 39% of respondents are not inclined to trust Russian health care (23% — very little, 16% — do not trust at all).
According to the Levada Center, those who assess their health as unsatisfactory are more likely to distrust healthcare system. More than half of citizens (58%) with poor health do not believe in the success of domestic medicine. />
Despite the fact that more than half of respondents (53%) generally trust doctors in Russia, 62% believe that their professional level is below the required level.
58% of Russians even said that doctors in Russia care more about their income than about patients.
