According to investigators, during his arrest at a rally on January 31, 2021, Garipov tore the pants of a National Guardsman and “inflicted at least one blow on his right thigh, which caused the victim to experience pain and moral suffering” (Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code).< /p>

Garipov, who went to the rally with the Russian flag, during the arrest was thrown face down in the snow by four National Guardsmen and, lifting his arms and legs, they took him to a paddy wagon. After the arrest, the man himself received lacerations on his head and was taken from the police department to the hospital. Soon he was sent to a pre-trial detention center.

The injured National Guardsman during the investigation explained Garipov’s injuries by saying that he “actively swung his head” and “could hit a rubber truncheon.”
