LPR servicemanLUHANSK, Feb 19Ukrainian security forces fired on the territory of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic 31 times a day, RIA Novosti was told at the LPR representative office in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the Ceasefire (JCCC). «Over the past 24 hours, 31 violations of the ceasefire regime have been recorded by the armed formations of Ukraine,» an officer of the LPR representative office in the JCCC said. According to him, the Ukrainian security forces fired on the territory of the republic, using, among other things, mortars and grenade launchers of various types. In the summer of 2020, additional ceasefire measures came into force in Donbass. They imply a complete ban on firing, placing weapons in and near populated areas, offensive and reconnaissance and sabotage operations. In addition, they provide for disciplinary liability for violation of the ceasefire regime. Ceasefire orders containing measures to maintain it must be in effect until the conflict is fully resolved. In April 2014, the Ukrainian authorities launched a military operation against the self-proclaimed DPR and LPR, which declared independence after the coup in Kiev in February 2014. According to the latest UN data, about 13 thousand people became victims of the conflict. The issue of resolving the situation in Donbass is being discussed, including during meetings of the contact group. However, even after the ceasefire agreements, skirmishes continue, in the DPR they announced the shelling of residential areas by Ukrainian heavy artillery. Moscow has repeatedly stated that Kiev does not comply with the Minsk agreements and drags out negotiations to resolve the conflict. The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that Kiev sent half of the entire personnel of the armed forces of Ukraine to the Donbass. Moscow expressed concern about the transfer of military equipment from NATO countries to the Russian borders and the increase in the number of Western instructors in the Donbass.
