Singer Go_A Ekaterina Pavlenko spoke about the scandalous national selection for Eurovision 2022 with the disqualification of the winner Alina Pash due to a trip to the occupied Crimea and forgery of a certificate from border guards. The artist believes that Ukraine's participation in the current competition is now in question, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to RBC-Ukraine.
Now, according to Pavlenko, there is an ambiguous situation, because the replacement of the participant with someone then another is unlikely to be appropriate.
«There is a high probability that they may admit that too politicized selection took place in Ukraine, and generally disqualify us this year», — shared her concerns with the soloist of the group Go_A, who caused a sensation at Eurovision last year with the song «Noise».
She is not sure if other artists will agree to go to the current international competition in Turin instead of Alina Pash , and whether such a replacement would be fair.
«If we now send another artist instead of Alina Pash, then it seems to me that a wave of hatred from people who were rooting for Alina Pash to go could also befall him. And it is not clear whether anyone will agree to take this blow», — said Pavlenko.
In this context, she recalled the situation in 2019 with the singer MARUV, when in the end she was removed after winning the National Selection, but instead of her, none of the other participants wanted to go to the competition.
So, the artist drew attention, the organizers of the national selection, who established the rules of participation, should carefully monitor their observance.
Pavlenko noted that Alina Pash's illegal trip to the Crimea was known even before the start of the selection, and the organizers should were to take this into account immediately.
«Very strange that they turned a blind eye to this. After all, it was clear that society would react very ambiguously to this situation. Did they really think that no one would suspect anything and that the Ukrainians had forgotten about this story?!» — the Go_A soloist is surprised.
In general, Pavlenko added, the national selection is held in order to «choose a worthy representative».
«And it seems to me inappropriate to replace the participant . This is already an unpleasant story, because in Europe it has already been announced that there will be Alina Pash and the fans have begun to build their predictions. And now we put them before the fact that we will have another participant», — she said.
