Ukrainians are being prepared for strict financial control: even spending on communal apartments will be checked

Everything can fall under the control of the authorities: from large transactions to banal utility bills.< /p>

The Ministry of Finance is actively preparing to introduce a bill that will deepen the monitoring of citizens' incomes and expenses. Indirect methods of financial control are already being used in Ukraine, but the power structure wants to finally legitimize this process. The document, which will «put Ukrainians on a leash,» intends to submit to the Verkhovna Rada at the end of February, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to gsminfo.com.ua.

Since the new financial monitoring rules may be much stricter, some banks have already begun sending letters to customers asking them to confirm the source of their income. Indeed, with the advent of the new law, everything can fall under the control of the authorities: from transactions for large amounts to the banal payment of a communal apartment.

The point is that any cash receipts to the account of a citizen will be questioned, and expenses will be considered as under a microscope. A similar system is already in place in Ukraine. However, only transactions of citizens in the amount of more than UAH 50 thousand raise questions from the bank. But with the release of the new law, this bar may be lowered.

According to Oleg Popenko, the head of the Consumer Services Union of Ukraine, the updated financial monitoring system can even affect utility costs.

“Paid for utilities — explain where you got this money from. And if you do not explain, they will block the card. We are already very close to this level of control,” Popenko stressed.

It should be noted that in the leading European countries, the finances of citizens are also controlled. But usually the population of these states has a much higher income than our compatriots. If in Ukraine, where a significant part of the population is not even able to pay for a communal apartment, they demand an explanation for every thousand hryvnias, “tears and sobs” will begin.

First, the authorities should think about how to increase the income of Ukrainians, and only then to introduce financial control, requiring the payment of taxes for each receipt on a bank card.
