MOSCOW, February 21 Sixteen-year-old Indian grandmaster Rameshbabu Pragnanandha defeated the champion on Monday World Chess Championship to Norwegian Magnus Carlsen at the Airthings Masters online tournament — the first tournament of the Champions Chess Tour series. Pragnanandha forced Carlsen to capitulate on the 39th move, playing with black pieces, and interrupted the Norwegian streak of three wins in the tournament. The Indian grandmaster with 8 points takes 14th place after eight rounds. Carlsen is fifth. The Airthings Masters online tournament with a prize pool of $150,000 is attended by 16 chess players. After the round-robin competition, the eight best grandmasters will determine the winner according to the knockout system.
