The German Ministry of Economy has already suspended the certification process for «Nord Stream — 2».
Germany has decided to suspend the certification of «Nord Stream-2». The decision was made by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in connection with the aggravation of the Russian crisis, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to RBC-Ukraine.
According to him, the German Ministry of Economy has been given appropriate instructions to suspend certification.
Scholz stated that the gas pipeline cannot be launched in these crisis conditions.
He told reporters in Berlin that his government was taking action in response to Russia's actions in Ukraine.
«It sounds technical, but it's a necessary administrative step. Pipeline certification is impossible, and without this certification «Nord Stream — 2″ cannot start», — said Scholz.
Certification revocation
As reports by Spiegel, The German Ministry of Economy has already suspended the certification process for «Nord Stream — 2».
As SPIEGEL previously learned in government circles, Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck («Green») in a letter on Tuesday morning instructed the Federal Network Agency reporting to him to revoke the initially positive certificate, which is crucial for the upcoming certification of the pipeline.
The certificate, issued by the previous government at the end of October, concerns the security of natural gas supplies to Germany, which, as it was then believed, would not be jeopardized by the commissioning of «Nord Stream — 2».
According to the letter, this is no longer the case due to the reassessment of the geostrategic situation and in view of the escalation in eastern Ukraine. «Authorization is not possible without this certificate», — believe in the ministry.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced the need for immediate sanctions for Moscow's recognition of ORDLO. He advocated the complete shutdown of the Russian gas pipeline «Nord Stream-2».
