Ukrainian servicemen on the line of contact in the Donetsk region. File photoUN, Feb. 22 Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya called on Western colleagues in the UN Security Council not to worsen the situation around Ukraine and force Kiev to abandon its militaristic plans.
"I would like to urge our Western colleagues to come to their senses, discard emotions and not make the situation worse. No one except you will be able to restrain Kiev's militaristic plans and force it to stop shelling and provocations against the Luhansk and Donetsk People's Republics, which in the new conditions can have especially dangerous consequences", Nebenzya said.
According to him, in accordance with the agreements signed today between the Russian Federation and the DPR, as well as the Russian Federation and the LPR, and based on the requests of the republics, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will carry out peacekeeping functions in their territories.
