Russian President Vladimir PutinMOSCOW, Feb. 21 The Ukrainian authorities tried to use the dialogue with Russia for bargaining with the West, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an address. «In Kiev, they tried to use dialogue with Russia as a pretext for bargaining with the West. They blackmailed him with rapprochement with Moscow, knocking out preferences for themselves, they say, otherwise Russian influence in Ukraine will grow,» — he said. «The Ukrainian authorities from the very beginning, I want to emphasize this, it was from the very first steps that they began to build their statehood on the denial of everything that unites us, they sought to distort the consciousness, the historical memory of millions of people, entire generations living in Ukraine,» he said.
