MOSCOW, Feb 23 The Georgian Rugby Union removed the match announcement from their social networks with the participation of the national team at the European Championship against the Russian team, written in Ukrainian. On Tuesday, the Georgian Rugby Union announced the match with the Russians in Ukrainian, without duplicating the post in either Georgian or Russian. Press attache of the Russian Rugby Federation (RFR) Anton Khalizov said that the European Rugby Federation (Rugby Europe) had a request to the Georgian Rugby Union to remove the post. Rugby Europe emphasized that such publications are «inadmissible» and are «violation of the regulations» that can lead to a fine. The meeting between the national teams of Georgia and Russia will be held on February 27 at the Dynamo Arena stadium in Tbilisi. The Russian team, which scored one point after two rounds, is fifth in the group. The Georgian team (7) is third. The European Championship is a qualifying competition for the World Cup. On February 21, Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili condemned the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin to recognize the independence of the DPR and LPR, calling it a repetition of the 2008 scenario (when Russia recognized the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia), and also expressed support for Ukraine.
