MOSCOW, 24 Feb The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) shares serious concerns international community with the situation around Russia and Ukraine, the organization said in a statement. «As the governing body of European football, UEFA is tirelessly working to develop and promote this sport in accordance with common European values, such as peace and respect for human rights, in the spirit of the Olympic Charter. We remain determined to stand in solidarity with the football community in Ukraine and are ready to lend a helping hand to the Ukrainian people,” the statement said. On Thursday, the Associated Press reported that UEFA was going to deprive St. Petersburg of the right to host the 2021/22 Champions League final. According to ESPN, the postponement of the match is inevitable. Earlier it was reported that the head of the organization, Alexander Ceferin, decided to hold an extraordinary meeting of the executive committee on Friday because of the situation between Russia and Ukraine. UEFA is also going to discuss the participation of Russian clubs in European competitions.
