The English football club Manchester United terminated its sponsorship agreement with the Russian airline Aeroflot due to the war in Ukraine. This is stated on the official website of the club.
“In connection with the events in Ukraine, we have withdrawn sponsorship rights from Aeroflot. We share the concern of our fans around the world and express our sympathy to those affected,” the press release says.
Aeroflot has been the official carrier of Manchester United since 2013. The agreement between the airline and the football club was supposed to be valid until 2023, but already on February 23, the FC refused the services of Aeroflot when traveling to the match with Atletico Madrid, writes the BBC.
Yesterday, the UK imposed sanctions against Aeroflot and banned the carrier from using the country's airspace. In response, the Federal Air Transport Agency decided to limit the airspace for British aircraft.
