US imposes sanctions against Putin and Lavrov

Treasury Department in WashingtonWASHINGTON Feb. 26 Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Lavrov because of the situation in Ukraine, the department said in a released statement. «Today, the United States, in coordination with our allies and partners, continued to provide a strong response to Russia's unjustified, unprovoked and deliberate invasion of Ukraine through the imposition of sanctions against Russian President Vladimir Putin and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov,» follows from a statement by the US Treasury. The department said that together these measures, as well as restrictions already adopted against the Russian Federation, «will entail unprecedented diplomatic and economic costs for Russia and further isolate it from the global financial system and the international community.» Sanctions against Putin and Lavrov suggest b freezing assets in US jurisdiction and prohibiting transactions with them for American individuals and legal entities.
