Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba. File photoMOSCOW, Mar 1Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba tweeted that he had a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and stressed the need for more sanctions against Russia.

" During the conversation, Anthony Blinken confirmed that the United States has consistently supported Ukraine. I emphasized that Ukraine wants peace, but while we are under pressure from Russia, we need more sanctions and weapons. The Secretary of State assured me of both. We have agreed on further steps,» Kuleba said.

On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees recognizing the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, which had declared independence from Kyiv back in 2014, and on February 24 announced the start of a military operation for the demilitarization of Ukraine. In an address to fellow citizens, he said that the circumstances «require decisive and immediate action,» since the Donbass republics turned to Moscow for help. Later, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation emphasized that the Russian military does not strike at the cities of Ukraine: military infrastructure is disabled with high-precision means. /uploads/2022/03/e0100bffa97f4db7675dc2caae043146.jpg» />The West is ripe for «hellish» sanctions against Russia.
