
Zaporozhye NPP MOSCOW, Mar 4 or there are no casualties, the state emergency service of Ukraine reports. «At 06.20 (07.20 Moscow time) the fire in the training building of the Zaporizhzhya NPP in Energodar was eliminated. There are no victims or injured,» the service said in a Telegram message. Earlier, a representative of the press service of the NPP said that there was a fire on the territory of the station, there are no changes in the radiation background. The footage from the surveillance camera at the station showed smoke. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine then reported that the fire occurred outside the Zaporozhye NPP, one of the power units was turned off at the station. Oleg Korikov, Chief State Inspector for Nuclear and Radiation Safety of Ukraine, explained on the air of the Rada TV channel that there are seven nuclear installations, six power units and a nuclear storage facility at the Zaporozhye NPP. According to him, power unit No. 1 was previously stopped for repairs, power units No. 2 and No. 3 were safely shut down, and No. 4 continues to work. Power units No. 5 and No. 6 are reserve, nothing threatens them. The mayor of Energodar reported that there was no data on the fire at the nuclear power plant itself.
