MOSCOW, March 5 Swedish biathlete Stina Nilsson takes third place in the sprint race at the World Cup stage in Finnish Kontiolahti. The victory was won by the German Denise Herrmann, who covered the distance in 20 minutes 8.6 seconds, with one miss on two firing lines. The second was the Norwegian Tiril Eckhoff (+5.0 seconds; 1 miss), the third — Nilsson (+5.2; 1). Nilsson is 28 years old, she is the 2018 Olympic champion in cross-country skiing. The Swede announced her transition to biathlon at the end of March 2020. Her best result in individual races at the Biathlon World Cup was previously 10th place in the pursuit race at the Hochfilzen stage. Russian biathletes miss the final stages of the World Cup. Earlier, the International Biathlon Union (IBU) suspended Russian athletes from participating in competitions under the auspices of the organization due to the aggravation of the situation in Ukraine.
