The famous American actor said he was «impressed and moved» Ukrainian President
Winner «Oscar» Sean Penn arrived in Ukraine shortly before the start of the war with Russia, and met with President Vladimir Zelensky on the eve of the invasion of Russian troops, as well as a day later.
Film star & #171;Harvey Milk» said in an interview that the meeting with the Ukrainian president struck him.
«Courage, dignity and… the love that comes from a person. And the way he united the country… It was an incredible moment. I was immensely impressed and touched by him and concerned for him and for Ukraine» Penn describes Zelensky.
The actor believes that Volodymyr Zelensky was born to unite Ukraine. The actor is happy that he witnessed «the birth of something new for the modern world».
Penn said that the US and Americans should invest and actively help Ukraine and support Zelensky.

According to Sean Penn, the war between Ukraine and the Russian Federation will not end soon, since Ukraine is «a country of desperate people».
The actor has already created own charitable organization to help Ukrainians Community Organized Relief Effort (CORE). Now the organization works in Poland on the Ukrainian border, but some of the employees remain in Ukraine.
Penn also condemned Russian President Vladimir Putin. «This is a cruel mistake of Vladimir Putin, he takes human lives, breaks hearts. If he does not give in, he will make a terrible mistake for all mankind», the actor summed up.
The Hollywood actor left Ukraine through Poland with his film crew. On February 28, they left their car and walked the last few kilometers.
«Two colleagues and I walked several miles (1 mile — 1.6 km — ed.) to the border with Poland, leaving the car on the side of the road. Almost all of the cars in this photo are carrying only women and children, most of them without any sign of luggage, and the car is their only value», Penn wrote and added a photo.
Recall that this the film director had previously visited Ukraine. Penn is filming a documentary about the war in Donbass, and therefore, in November 2021, the artist visited the Azov region and talked with the Ukrainian military. The director also walked around Kiev, and visited the site of the execution of the Heavenly Hundred.
However, this is not the first time Sean Penn goes to a hot spot. He had previously visited Iraq during the war, helping the victims of Hurricane «Katrina» in New Orleans. He also met with the infamous drug lord Joaquin Guzman Loera, nicknamed «El Chapo».
He came to Ukraine last year. Sean Penn was filming a documentary about the war in the Donbass, and last year he traveled to the Donbass and met with the Ukrainian military.
