The Japanese authorities have imposed a ban on the export of oil refining equipment to the territory of the Russian Federation as new anti-Russian sanctions for a large-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Japan has also frozen the assets of dozens of Russian and Belarusian officials and oligarchs. The new sanctions list includes 32 people, incl. representatives of the administration of Vladimir Putin, head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov and heads of state-owned companies such as Volga Group, Transneft, PMC «Wagner», «Internet Research Agency», known as «factory trolls». On Tuesday, March 8, the Minister of Finance of Japan announced this.

Among others, the Japanese sanctions list includes:

• Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov
• Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Dmitry Kozak and Sergei Kiriyenko
• Head of the Chechen of the republic Ramzan Kadyrov,
• businessmen Alisher Usmanov, Gennady Timchenko and the Rotenberg brothers.

In addition, the list includes the names of 12 officials and businessmen from Belarus, as well as 12 organizations from this country and Russia.

Now, payments and transactions of the mentioned persons and companies will require special government permission.

Under the ban on deliveries to the Ministry of Defense of Belarus, the armed forces, the police, as well as the Minsk company JSC Integral.

Representatives of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs also stated that the country does not change its position on the southern part of the Kuril Islands and considers them «originally Japanese». In Japan they are called the Northern Territories.
