MOSCOW, 10 Mar. The Winter Games «We are together. Sport» for Paralympic athletes will be held on March 18-21, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said, quoted by the press service of the Russian government. Earlier, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in Paralympic Games in Beijing because of the situation in Ukraine. After that, Chernyshenko instructed the ministries of sports and finance, together with the government of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug — Ugra, to work out the issue of organizing games for Russian Paralympians «We are together. Sport.» Khanty-Mansiysk is ready to host the Winter Paralympic Games. They will be held from March 18 to 21 «The region has all the necessary sports and urban infrastructure that meets international standards. The venues for the competitions are located close to each other, so there will be no problems with transport logistics. The climate during this period is also suitable for competitions. Paralympic athletes are the pride of Russia, and we will make everything so that both athletes and fans get tremendous pleasure from these Games and feel pride in our country,” Chernyshenko noted. “Yugra is well known to all fans of winter sports. and also develop national sports of indigenous peoples of the North. The city has rich experience in hosting major tournaments — Deaflympics, Biathlon World Cup stages, sledge hockey and snowboarding competitions. I can note the local fans — they always warmly welcome and support athletes here. I am sure that the games «We are together. Sport» will be a bright end to the complex Paralympic cycle,» said Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin.
