LONDON, Mar 10 Russian businessman Roman Abramovich, despite sanctions, can still sell the Chelsea football club if it «does not make a profit from it,» according to inews, citing sources in the British government. The United Kingdom authorities on Thursday imposed sanctions against seven Russian businessmen, including Abramovich. They will be banned from entering the UK and their assets in the country will be frozen. Earlier, Abramovich handed over the management of Chelsea to the trustees of a charitable foundation. Chelsea can still be sold by Abramovich, provided that the proceeds do not go to the Russian oligarch. It is noted that the government maintains contacts with the club to ensure its functioning. Abramovich became the owner of Chelsea in 2003. In 2012, the London club won the Champions League for the first time in its history, in 2021 Chelsea was able to repeat the success.
