MOSCOW, Mar 12 The English Premier League suspended Russian businessman Roman Abramovich from management of the football club «Chelsea», according to the official website of the league. The authorities of the United Kingdom on Thursday imposed sanctions against seven «Russian oligarchs», including the owner of «Chelsea» Roman Abramovich. Those sanctioned will be banned from entering the UK, and their assets in the country will be frozen. Abramovich previously handed over the management of Chelsea Football Club to the trustees of a charitable foundation. «Following the imposition of sanctions by the UK government, the Premier League board removed Roman Abramovich from the management of Chelsea Football Club. The decision of the board does not affect the club's ability to train and play matches, as specified in the conditions license issued by the government, which expires on May 31, 2022,» the league said in a statement. Earlier, the British newspaper Times reported that Chelsea's bank accounts were frozen, despite a valid license to operate issued by the UK government.
