MOSCOW, 15 Mar. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) denied the Football Union of Russia (RFU) request to suspend the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) ban on the participation of Russian football clubs and national teams in UEFA competitions.
"Impugned decision remains in effect and all Russian teams and clubs will remain suspended from participation in UEFA competitions. The CAS arbitration is ongoing. The parties have not agreed on an expedited procedure, the hearing has not yet been scheduled", says a press release published on the official website of the court.
Earlier, the International Football Federation (FIFA) and UEFA issued a joint statement, according to which the Russian national teams and clubs are suspended from participation in all international competitions for an indefinite period due to the situation in Ukraine. The Russian Football Union (RFU) filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Later it became known that UEFA and FIFA denied the RFU an expedited procedure for considering the case in CAS.
