The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution on Russia's invasion of Ukraine

The decision to convene an emergency meeting of the General Assembly on the situation in Ukraine on February 27 was adopted by the UN Security Council.

The United Nations General Assembly, within the framework of a special session, adopted on March 2 a resolution condemning Russia's attack on Ukraine. The document was supported by representatives of more than 140 countries, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to RBC-Ukraine.

Representatives of 141 countries voted for the resolution of the UN General Assembly condemning Russia's invasion of Ukraine, against — 5, abstained — 35. Belarus, North Korea, Syria, Russia and Syria did not support the document.

Among those who abstained — China, India, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, Cuba, Kyrgyzstan, Vietnam, South Africa, Nicaragua, Central African Republic.

The resolution condemns Russia's war against Ukraine and Moscow's decision to increase the readiness of deterrence forces. The document also contains a demand for the Russian Federation to immediately cease hostilities.

Three positions are key in the resolution:

  • recognition of the fact that Russia has committed aggression against Ukraine;
  • demanding to Russia to cease fire;
  • demanding to Russia to withdraw its troops from the territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders (including Crimea and Donbass).

Note that the Russian side vetoed a draft UN Security Council resolution calling on Moscow to end the war with Ukraine.< /p>
