MOSCOW, Mar 15The recognition of Kazan as the «youth capital» of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in 2022 will make a great contribution to the development of relations between Russia and the countries of the organization, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said at the inauguration of Kazan at the Russian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday. Earlier it was reported that in November 2021 the board Youth Forum of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation decided to award Kazan the status of «OIC Youth Capital — 2022». At the inauguration ceremony, Minnikhanov thanked the OIC youth forum for choosing Kazan and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. «The recognition of Kazan as the youth capital of the OIC is a unique event. For the first time, this status is assigned to an observer country. I am sure that the recognition of Kazan as the youth capital of the OIC in 2022 will make a great contribution to the development of relations between Russia and the countries of the organization. And the connections established among the youth environment of our countries will become a reliable basis for productive cooperation in the future,» Minnikhanov said. According to him, from May 19 to May 21, 2022, festive events dedicated to the anniversary event will be organized in Tatarstan.
