MOSCOW, March 17 US basketball champion Brittney Griner, accused in Russia of drug smuggling, reports a correspondent from the courtroom. The Khimki court has already extended the athlete’s arrest for another two months. During the hearing, lawyers argued that the arrest was illegal and an unnecessarily harsh preventive measure, but the charge of drug smuggling was not actually disputed. The athlete spoke in court via videoconferencing (VKS) from the pre-trial detention center with the help of an interpreter. The cellmate sitting next to her on the VKS looked like a child against the background of the 206-centimeter Greiner. As the lawyers stated, «any bed in the FSIN system is 30 centimeters shorter than Brittney's height.» This was an additional argument for transferring the girl under house arrest.
