German biathlete Lesser wins the penultimate race of his career


MOSCOW, Mar 19 German biathlete Eric Lesser wins the pursuit at the last stage of the World Cup in Holmenkollen, Norway. Starting fifth, Lesser, without allowing a single miss at four firing lines, showed the result of 32 minutes 3.8 seconds at a distance of 12.5 km. Second place was taken by Frenchman Kenten Fillon-Maillet (+9.4 seconds; one miss), who had previously won the Big Crystal Globe, and Norwegian Sturla Holm Legrade (+22.7; three misses) rounded out the top three. Previously, 33-year-old Lesser said he would complete professional career at the end of the season. He has two silver medals at the Sochi Olympics and a bronze medal at the Pyeongchang Games. He is a two-time world champion, three-time silver and two-time bronze medalist of world championships. He won the previous victory in the individual World Cup race more than six years ago, winning the mass start at the stage in Ruhpolding, Germany.
