A court in Moscow recognized the company that owns Facebook and Instagram as an «extremist organization»

The head of the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow, Olga Solopova, satisfied the claim of the Prosecutor General's Office and recognized Meta as an «extremist organization,» a Mediazona correspondent reports from the courtroom.

The judge clarified that the decision does not apply to the WhatsApp messenger and must be executed immediately.

As the representative of the Prosecutor General's Office Timur Abregov said in court, Meta ignored the requests of the Russian authorities and allowed users to «wish death Russians.» In his opinion, «Meta created an alternative reality for its users, in which there is only aggressive rhetoric against Russian citizens.» As a result, Abregov believes, Meta has become a political tool and «a tool for extremist activities.»

Because of this, the representative of the Prosecutor General's Office asked the court to satisfy the claim and immediately execute the decision to ban the company's activities in Russia. To the clarifying questions of the judge, Abregov replied that it was a question of the ban on the activities of Meta itself and Meta materials, and not on social media users. =»mz-publish-context-cite__image» alt=»1″ />Online Russia vs Meta.
