WASHINGTON, Mar 21 Suspension of Russian athletes from participation in international competitions due to with the events in Ukraine — the wrong step, for which at the same time no one will be held accountable, said former US Ambassador to the UN Andrew Yang. «This is wrong. The reason why all Russian athletes were suspended was that no one would be held accountable for it's a responsibility,» Yang said. He added that Russia and Western countries, including the United States, have many common interests, and what is happening now in their relationship is unreasonable.
"This is not good for Russia, it weakens Russia… Let's stop and start all over again, and also try to achieve peace", Young urged.
The Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) previously recommended that international sports federations not allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete due to the aggravation of the situation in Ukraine, where the Russian military is conducting an operation to demilitarize the country. The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) said that it would challenge in court the decisions of the international federations on the removal of Russians that followed the recommendation of the IOC.
