MOSCOW, Mar 21, by Sergey Fuks. Russian grandmaster Sergey Karyakin said that the president of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), Arkady Dvorkovich, decided to sacrifice him for his political ambitions. On Monday, FIDE announced that the ethics committee of the organization disqualified Karyakin, who supported the special operation in Ukraine, for six months. Earlier, Karyakin published a statement on Twitter in which he supported the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin to conduct a special operation in Ukraine. Sanctions against the Russian will deprive him of the opportunity to participate in the Candidates Tournament, which is due from June 16 to July 7, 2022. «It's just the idea — Dvorkovich is trying to show that he is a European official. He wants to remain FIDE President. He decided to sacrifice me to his political ambitions. Did I have a conversation with him? I won’t say that I aspire to this conversation. I think if I dialed him, we would talk. But, frankly, I have no desire to dial him, because I understood what it's going to. If he decides so, let it be on his conscience,» said Karyakin.
