Human rights project calculated that since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine, the security forces have carried out more than 15,000 detentions of participants in anti-war protests.
“15,000 is the number of arrests, but not detained: the same people can be detained several times,” the project clarifies.

On March 4, the State Duma adopted a bill that introduces administrative and criminal penalties for «discrediting» the Russian armed forces. The maximum punishment is 15 years in prison. The police immediately began to apply a new administrative article and draw up reports on both street protesters and social media users who oppose the war.
