MOSCOW, Mar 22, Pavel Levkovich. Clubs of the Russian Premier League (RPL) ) voted to increase the number of teams to 18, the head of the organization, Ashot Khachaturyants, told reporters following the results of the general meeting of clubs. The expansion was discussed at the last meeting, there was a vote. Opinions were divided: ten against five. The appeal was transferred to the RFS. Of course, the exclusion of play-offs is a violation of the sporting principle. We are in a force majeure situation. Tomorrow the executive committee will consider the issue, but I don't think it will be accepted right away. There are too many factors here. The financial readiness of the clubs and the condition of the stadiums are important. There is a serious analysis ahead of which the RFU will make a decision. As the president of the RPL, I represent the teams. If the majority votes for the number to increase, I cannot but support it", — said Khachaturyants.
«Issues of the salary cap, an additional transfer window, everything that is contrary to the regulations and legislation, we cannot accept decisions on them are not within our competence, and we have fixed this,» the head of the RPL said.
