The Belarusian side has not made a decision to close its embassy in Ukraine.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus announced the closure of the Consulate General of Ukraine in Brest. They also announced a reduction in the number of Ukrainian diplomats in the country, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to RBC-Ukraine.
Thus, only five employees of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission will remain in Belarus, the rest must leave the country in in the near future.
«This step is aimed at stopping the non-diplomatic activities of a number of employees of Ukrainian foreign institutions. They were asked to leave our country within 72 hours», — said Belarusian Foreign Ministry spokesman Anatoly Glaz.
He also stated that «due to the actual lack of personnel» the Belarusian side also decided to close the consulate of Ukraine in the city of Brest.
«I emphasize once again that the Ukrainians have been and will remain a close people for us», — Glaz said.
According to him, the Belarusian side did not make a decision to close its embassy in Ukraine.
