Louis Vuitton criticized for a collection of jewelry with a symbol resembling Z

According to users, the lightning on the jewelry from the new collection looks more like the letter Z, which has become a symbol of Russia's war against Ukraine.

33-year-old Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander appeared in an advertisement for a new collection of jewelry from the Volt series from the luxury French brand Louis Vuitton, and this campaign has already been marked by a serious scandal related to the events in Ukraine, which is opposed to Russian aggression,  reports Chronicle.info with link to Focus.

The reason for the indignation was a graphic image on the jewelry, symbolizing lightning and a discharge of electricity, as well as the merged brand initials (letters L and V). The result is a symbol strikingly reminiscent of the letter Z, which has become the symbol with which the Russian Armed Forces mark military equipment that has been killing Ukrainians in the war since February 24. The latter is stubbornly called «a special operation» in Russia, and any mention of the war and the atrocities of Russian soldiers is fraught with criminal prosecution «for spreading fakes).

According to users, advertising the collection in the light of recent events looks, to put it mildly. inappropriate. There were also those who accused Louis Vuitton of covert support for Russia's actions in Ukraine.

Some commentators nevertheless tried to remind that the photo shoot and the entire advertising campaign in general were filmed before the war, when such a symbol was not yet had such «bloody» subtext.

The Volt jewelry line was introduced back in 2020. It includes rings, earrings, bracelets and pendants. In addition to Alicia, actress Gina Jin and rapper Kid Cudi appeared in the campaign.
