MOSCOW, Mar 24 The International Skating Union (ISU) has suspended two commentators who who insulted Olympic champion Canadian figure skater Megan Duhamel during a live broadcast of the World Championships in Montpellier, France. Earlier, Duhamel criticized the work of commentators at the World Championships. According to her, they sympathized with Russian skaters who were not allowed to compete because of the situation in Ukraine. After that, the commentators, during a broadcast on the ISU YouTube channel, assuming that the broadcast was not continuing, argued whether Duhamel would like their comments. One of them called the skater «a bitch from Canada.» «After a short program of sports couples at the World Figure Skating Championships, disrespectful statements by two commentators working for the whole world got on the air. In sports and in our society there is no place for offensive and derogatory statements, remarks and conduct. The ISU has taken immediate action with its service provider to immediately suspend both commentators, neither will be covering any future figure skating competition for the ISU,» the ISU Twitter page said in a post. The ISU apologized Duhamel for inappropriate and unacceptable behavior of commentators. Previously, Duhamel has publicly criticized Russian skaters and coaches several times. In particular, she criticized the Russians Alina Zagitova and Evgenia Medvedeva, who sat in the stands without masks at the Beijing Olympics. Dumel is 36 years old. She won the gold medal with Eric Radford at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics in the team event. Also on her account is the silver of the 2014 Games in team competitions and the bronze of the 2018 Games in pair skating.
