MOSCOW, Mar 25 The Sweden national football team defeated the Czech team in extra time in the semi-final match of path B of the play-off mini-tournament for the right to qualify for the 2022 World Cup. The meeting, held in Stockholm, ended with a score of 1:0 in favor of the hosts. The victory for the Swedes was brought by an accurate shot by Robin Quison in the 110th minute. In the other semi-final of path B, the teams of Russia and Poland were supposed to meet, but in February, the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) suspended Russian teams and clubs from participating in all international competitions indefinitely due to the situation in Ukraine. The Russian Football Union (RFU) filed appeals with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the decisions of the Bureau of the FIFA Council and the UEFA Executive Committee. On March 18, CAS denied the RFU's request to suspend the FIFA ban on the participation of Russian teams in tournaments under the auspices of the organization until the decision is fully appealed. The final of qualifying path B is scheduled for March 29. The World Cup in Qatar will be held from November 21 to December 18.
