Europe plans to supply all EU members and partners through joint procurement
The member states of the European Union agreed to start work on the creation of joint purchases and supplies of natural gas to all European countries. This decision was made at the summit of EU leaders on March 24-25, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to the New edition.
The common procurement platform will be opened for the Balkan countries, as well as for three associated Eastern partners: Ukraine , Moldova and Georgia.
“What we have adopted today is a political choice built on a voluntary basis, because these are not government contracts. These contracts are signed not by the government, but by companies,” French President Emanuel Macron said.
The communiqué says that Brussels seeks to eliminate dependence on gas imports from Russia as soon as possible.
Note that the adoption of the new system may require months of negotiations between the European Parliament and the member countries of the bloc.
