MOSCOW, Mar 27The rise in prices for fuel and products deprives the inhabitants of the UK of confidence in the future, Sky News reports. According to social worker Don Scofield, measures of support from the state in the current situation make her even more nervous. In particular, the possibility of saving about £300 a year thanks to innovations in the state social insurance system does not inspire optimism, since this money is still not enough. As a Sky News journalist noted, a woman has to make a choice between feeding her children or paying for heating every day. «It's just a nightmare. <…> It seems that no matter how hard we try, we will not achieve anything, it only gets worse and worse,» Scofield emphasized. Some British pensioners noted that in the current conditions it is easier not to use central heating, but to hide more tightly with a blanket. At the same time, they are sure that in London they do not quite adequately assess what is happening, since the assistance that the authorities allocate would be enough for the officials themselves for only one meal. The journalist stressed that the current crisis will affect everyone, but it will most seriously affect the poorest segment of the population. Summing up, he expressed the opinion that next month the situation will probably only get worse and millions of British families are preparing for the worst. Earlier, the head of the British Ministry of Finance Rishi Sunak announced a record reduction in duties on fuel — by five pence per liter until March 2023. According to a study by Techne, 67 per cent of people in the United Kingdom believe that even then they will have difficulty paying their heating and electricity bills. 63% of Britons felt that the announced measures were not enough.
