The President of the Russian Luge Federation (FSSR) Natalia Garth said that the organization is threatened with exclusion from the International Luge Federation (FIL). «We are facing a similar situation with the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU), we may be expelled (from FIL). The situation is still critical, but we hope that everything can be resolved,» Garth said. In early March, the FIL decided to remove Russian athletes from participation in competitions under the auspices of the organization due to the aggravation of the situation in Ukraine. Also, Russians holding positions in various commissions and working groups of the FIL were relieved of their posts. On Tuesday, the International Biathlon Union (IBU) suspended the membership of the RBU and the Belarusian Biathlon Federation in the organization with immediate effect amid aggravated Russian-Ukrainian relations.
