Attackers, as indicated, sent letters to employees with malicious links. According to them, users were redirected to a site that requested their username and password. One of them was sent from a hacked account of a government official. «The phishing attacks … had the characteristics of a coordinated, ongoing effort targeting election officials,» the release said. Similar emails were sent to election officials in nine different states.
