Now buyers of Russian gas are required to open ruble accounts in Russian banks. Putin also said that all existing gas supply contracts would be suspended if buyers from «unfriendly countries» will not comply with the new requirements of the Russian Federation. The Russian president also confirmed his intention to supply gas in the previously agreed volumes.
Earlier «G7» refused to pay in rubles for Russian gas. In turn, a number of countries, led by Germany, referred to the terms of the contract, which provide for payment in dollars or euros.
