File photoMOSCOW, April 1The Parliamentary Commission to Investigate the Activities of the US Biological Laboratories in Ukraine is considering the idea of visiting such organizations in Kazakhstan and Georgia, but has not yet been accepted, a source familiar with the situation told RIA Novosti. According to the interlocutor of the agency, at the meeting of the commission, proposals were made to conduct familiarization work in laboratories similar to Ukrainian ones, which are located on the territory of countries bordering Russia, two countries were specifically named.
"There were proposals to inspect similar laboratories, which are located on the territory, for example, of Kazakhstan or Georgia. Or other countries that are nearby, on the periphery (borders with the Russian Federation) … There were corresponding proposals, they are being discussed, they have not yet been adopted", the source said.
At the same time, he clarified that it would be more correct to call the proposed work not inspection, but familiarization. The first meeting of the commission was held on Thursday in the State Duma. The creation of a parliamentary commission to conduct an investigation was proposed by State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin and supported by deputies of all factions. As specified on the website of the chamber, according to the law, at least one fifth of the total number of deputies must sign an appeal to initiate a parliamentary investigation — 448 deputies signed this appeal. After that, the Federation Council unanimously approved the establishment of such a commission, forming its part in it.
